Sooo there’s a good chance I’m a little late to jump on the overnight oats bandwagon but seriously if you haven’t tried this delicious beaky/brunch/anytime snack, drop what you’re doing and get in the kitchen… it’s time to try this Overnight Oats Recipe… it’s oats.em.gee. #YUM!
Overnight oats is the best thing since sliced bread… because in the morning it’s literally even easier than buttering toast! There is ENDLESS options with this treat but the only real ingredients you need to worry about is Oats, and Milk (take your pick of full cream, skim, almond, soy etc etc), and my rule of thumb is equal amounts oats and milk. Simples. For a decent serve I go for half a cup of oats & half a cup of milk, and add to that 1 -2tsp of chia seeds. Then comes the fun part… literally add anything. Below is the yummy version I whipped up.
OVERNIGHT OATS
1/2 Cup of Oats
1/2 Cup of Skim Milk
1/2 tsp Cinnamon powder
1 tsp Chia seeds
1 tbsp Toasted Muesli Mix (incl. dried apple, shredded coconut, pumpkin seeds & almonds – FYI this is an awesome DIY super easy multi-purpose mix to keep in the pantry!)
1 tsp Honey
1 or 2 prunes sliced
*Top with fresh berries to serve (so it doesn’t get mushy overnight).
Other variations (which I’ll be making v.soon!) are Sultana/Cinnamon/Apple, Banana/Walnut aaaand Honey/Almond/Fig. I’ve also heard of variations that include yoghurt which sounds like a delicious addition too! Seriously, when it’s as easy as pop-it-in-the-fridge before you go to bed and wake up to a deliciously healthy insta-worthy treat, sign me up… I’m sold!
