There are lots of positives to being a freelancer and working from home, but the one major downside is that my home is also my workplace and I spend more hours on my desk chair at home than what I ever spent in the office. That being the case it’s nice to get away, even if only for a night (and even if I do take my laptop lol). Last week hubs and I took off from the South Coast for a little staycay in Sydney for Vivid Festival, and stayed at the Vibe Hotel in Rushcutters Bay.
The hotel has been recently renovated and I fell in love with the new interior styling, with combinations of marble & gold throughout the lobby, the room and especially the restaurant Storehouse on The Park (which I can definitely see myself revisiting with my blogger squad).
We dined at the Storehouse for dinner, and I have something amazing to share with you… Fries Friday. Yep. All.of.the.fries, including but not limited to waffle fries, haloumi fries & sweet potato fries. We fought the urge to try every type and instead opted for waffle + haloumi as sides to a few other dishes… Field Mushroom stuffed with Pearl Barley Risotto, Salt & Pepper Calamari, and an Asparagus, Walnut Pesto & Brussel Sprout Salad. Difficult decisions to make from a menu that looked amazing but we selected well because it was all superbly delish.
Of course I must mention that I started it all with a very good espresso martini which is highly recommended. After dinner we ordered an Uber and it was a quick drive into Circular Quay for Vivid. What a spectacular city Sydney is, that view of the harbour just never gets old.
We stayed in a park view king room and I’m delighted to say I caught up on some sleep after a string of work-related late nights, thanks to a very comfortable king bed and pillows that were like actual clouds. Waking up to a view over the park definitely topped off my stay, and buffet breakfast at Storehouse was a perfect start to the day with that view out to the park. It’s just a shame Saturday was rainy otherwise the rooftop pool would have been my station for the morning – with views over Rushcutters Bay it really doesn’t get much better.
